Amharic Hamlet

Last year ICS staged a production of Hamlet in the local language of the Addis region, Amharic.  The journal of the International Baccalaureate program, IB World, published an article about this unique project in their most recent issue.  Wish I had been here to see the show!  Click on the picture to link to the article “The Play’s the Thing”:

    Perhaps they can do another play before you leave and after you know the language. My real question – does Andreas know enough Amharic to order in a restaurant?

    • Well, actually both of us know enough to do that. We’ve both been eating in Ethiopian restaurants since the 1980s, and we’re pretty well-versed in kitfo, yebeg wat, doro wat, gomen, mitmita…
