Here’s an architectural meme that made the rounds in Sarajevo about a hundred years ago. I’ll add more examples as I find them.
- These fellows have been holding up the corner of the building next door to us for decades. No wonder their necks are sore.
- The hats make me think this must be Romulus and Remus; can’t say why they’re in Sarajevo.
- These two are holding up stone garlands across the street from our apartment.
- More sore necks.
- Most of these little slackers seem to be playing flutes instead of holding up their architectural feature.
- This burly couple got off easy; they only have to hold up lamps outside the National Bank.
I’m so happy you’re blogging again. You are such a good writer! This “where is the box of Betty Crocker?” baker even enjoyed the baking one. Linda M.
Aw, shucks! Thanks, Linda. I’m happy to be blogging, too. I’m hoping to get a couple of Syrian posts up today. Many of them are already written but I have to tidy them up and add photos.
